Form Time Programme
We place great importance on form time as a positive and purposeful start to each school day. This 25-minute session is designed to support students academically, but also in their personal development, wellbeing, and readiness to learn.
Each morning begins with a consistent routine. Students check they have the correct equipment, review key messages from the daily bulletin and take part in focused activities such as silent reading. This helps students feel settled and ready for the day ahead.
Across the week, students take part in a carefully planned programme that includes:
- Assemblies: Weekly year group assemblies that explore key themes, celebrate achievements and success.
- Current Affairs: Opportunities to discuss what is happening in the world, helping students build awareness and communication skills.
- Quizzes and Knowledge Checks: Engaging activities to build general knowledge and reinforce learning in a fun, supportive way.
- Reading for Pleasure: Dedicated time to enjoy reading, helping to develop literacy, focus, and a lifelong love of books.
- RSE (Relationships and Sex Education): Delivered fortnightly (or weekly for Year 11), providing students with age-appropriate guidance in a safe and respectful environment.
- Careers and Post-16 Preparation (Year 11): Focused sessions to support students in planning their next steps.
While the structure varies slightly between year groups, the aim remains the same: to provide a calm, meaningful start to the day, where students feel supported and ready to succeed.
Our form time programme plays a key role in developing confident, well-rounded young people.
